2022 Parade Grand Marshal

Dr. Jane Stavem

The Festival of Bands is honored to welcome the Superintendent of Schools for the Sioux Falls School District, Dr. Jane Stavem, as this year's Parade Grand Marshal.

Dr. Stavem started her career in St. Paul, MN where she taught for ten years. In 2001, she returned to Nebraska to begin her administrative career, including both building and district roles.

Dr. Stavem has been the superintendent role for the past 14 years and is starting her third year with the Sioux Falls School District.

Dr. Stavem received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Bethel University and her administrative certification degree from St. Mary’s University in Minneapolis, MN. She received her doctorate (Ed.D.) in Educational Administration & Supervision from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

Dr. Stavem is the author of Student Mobility: Creating an Environment for Social and Academic Success, Rowman and Littlefield (2014) and her children’s book, Flying V - The Alphabet Takes Flight (2021).
